Zemono+ Pralines

Gift packaging for Zemono+ Selekcija, the first chocolate praline selection by Tomaž Kavčič, chef of the Michelin-starred Gostilna pri Lojzetu at Dvorec Zemono in the Vipava valley.

Kavčič is the fourth generation at Zemono and a founding president of the Slovenian section of Jeunes Restaurateurs d'Europe. The pralines were his first product to leave the restaurant, and the box had to work as a gift before it worked as confectionery.

It is black on black throughout. The name, the word Selekcija and the chef's signature are blind-embossed into uncoated black board, so the front of the box is read by raking light rather than by contrast. The one printed element is a gold foil rosette, small, set off-centre. Inside the lid, in gold foil at text size, is a letter from Kavčič explaining where the selection came from — the surroundings he lives and cooks in, and a long habit of chocolate. The pralines sit below in a fitted black tray.
